Our ministry is comprised of caring individuals who are available to listen and visit with parishioners who have lost loved ones. Our team sends a sympathy card, invitation to our Spring prayer service, a letter during the Christmas holidays, and an invitation to the All Souls Day Mass Celebration to parishioners
who have lost loved ones in the previous year. In addition, we coordinate the Spring Prayer Service and assist with the All Souls Day Mass Celebration. We believe that much of our ministry takes place as we reach out to others whether it be at the Spring Prayer Service in the Little Brick Church or in the hallway
following mass. Our team always welcomes new members. Care Notes are also available in the church lobby. For more information, contact Kathy Esselman, [email protected]
Buildings and Grounds
The Building and Grounds Committee oversees the maintenance and upkeep of the parish property, buildings, and cemetery grounds. It also plans for future needs and capital improvements. The committee coordinates several parish workdays per year. Individuals are needed that are willing to help with projects or that possess special skills. Meetings are scheduled monthly generally on the fourth Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM.
Family Service Ministry
Family Service Ministry is a way for families to serve those in need together. It is a wonderful way to experience sharing Christ’s love together a family. Opportunities are scheduled each month for families to serve in ways such as assembling meals for the hungry or serving at a meal site. A calendar of opportunities is sent to those interested and sign up is based on availability for each family. Families with children of all ages are invited to sign up. If you are interested in being added to the email list, or if you have any questions, please email Julie Joosten ([email protected]) or Julia Richter ([email protected]).
St. Matthew’s Parish holds an authentic Door County Style Fish Boil several times a year. The fish is cooked outside in large kettles over an open flame. The fish boils are held between 4:00 and 7:00 PM in the Parish Cafeteria. Advanced tickets are available at the Parish Office during Normal Business Hours and in the Parish Gathering Space after Mass the week before the Fish Boil.
The menu consists of:
- Boiled potatoes
- Delicious Fish
- Home-made desserts
